In view of the sensitivity of the Karabakh issue any attempts to modify the format can lead to the thwarting of the negotiation process and setbacks in the positions of the parties, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said in an interview with APA agency.
He noted that the result of the last meeting of Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan, with the participation of Vladimir Putin was significant decrease in the level of armed confrontation that flashed in the conflict zone in late July-early August and resulted in considerable losses.
Asked about his attitude to changing of negotiation format, in particular attracting Germany and Turkey as co-chairs, Karasin said “the Minsk Group accumulated unique experience of mediation. In view of the sensitivity of the Karabakh issue any attempts to modify the format can lead to the thwarting of the negotiation process and setbacks in the positions of the parties.”
