US Northern Command Admiral Bill Gortney issued a directive ordering military recruitment centers across the United States to take more security precautions, following the deadly attacks in Chattanooga last week, local media reported.
The new precautions require increasing surveillance at hundreds of recruiting centers, reserve centers and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) facilities.
Admiral Gortney stated the measures aim to “increase and sustain security” and “increase vigilance and safeguarding of personnel” at the military sites.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has investigated the attack as an act of domestic terrorism, but said it has found no links between the gunman and the Islamic State.
