Trump wondered why Iran has not surrendered amid US show of force

U. S. President Donald Trump is curious about why Iran has not yet agreed to reduce its nuclear program, despite increasing military pressure from the U. S. Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, mentioned this during an interview, expressing that Trump is not frustrated but is interested in Iran’s lack of response to the situation. Witkoff questioned why, with the military presence in the region, Iran has not approached the U. S. to discuss limiting its nuclear activities. The U. S. has been building up forces in the Middle East and preparing for possible military actions against Iran, which has warned it would target U. S. bases if attacked.

The U. S. demands that Iran stop enriching uranium, which could be used for nuclear weapons, cease its support for militant groups, and accept limits on its missile program. Iran, on the other hand, insists its nuclear program is peaceful and is willing to accept some restrictions if financial sanctions are lifted, but does not agree to connect these issues with missiles and support for armed groups. Witkoff noted that Iran is enriching uranium to levels that could lead to bomb-making materials soon. There are ongoing differences between the U. S. and Iran regarding sanctions relief in negotiations.

Additionally, Witkoff met with Reza Pahlavi, a prominent Iranian opposition figure, who advocates for U. S. military intervention in Iran.
