US President Joe Biden’s statements against his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping describing him as unsuitable for diplomacy come days after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to China aimed primarily at helping repair relations between Beijing and Washington. In my opinion, these irresponsible statements by US President Joe Biden towards his Chinese counterpart fall within the framework of intrigue and political rivalry between the two parties, especially by the American side. Through unprecedented provocative practices or making escalating and threatening statements, hence we understand the extent of the American intention to always provoke Beijing. Of course, those irresponsible statements by Biden will spoil the efforts made by Secretary of State Blinken during his official visit to China, as well as what was reached during Anthony Blinken’s visit to China, and what was agreed upon to improve Chinese relations. between him and a number of Chinese officials, as an attempt to reduce the degree of US tensions with Beijing and enhance mutual understanding between them. However, Biden’s statements, which were considered harsh criticism of Chinese President Xi Jinping, came with a description of him as a “dictator”, which will disturb the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Here come the statements of US President Joe Biden in the face of his Chinese counterpart, completely contradicting the calm and sober language spoken by Xi Jinping on the American side, especially Xi Jinping letter to the “National Committee for Relations between the United States and China”, and his assertion during it that enhancing communication and cooperation between China and the United States will help increase stability and promote peace and development in the world, and at the same time confirm China’s readiness to work with the United States in a framework of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence and find ways of reconciliation in the new era between the two sides.
Hence, China intends to strengthen its position in the international arena and promote what it calls “diplomacy of major countries with Chinese characteristics”, in the framework of China’s endeavor to distinguish itself in the international arena and delegitimize what it considers American behavior in the management of international affairs. As Beijing insists on practicing pluralism in a real way, in the sense of not interfering (in the affairs of other countries) and not seeking any hegemony, in contrast to what it considers unilateral American actions characterized by hegemony and privacy. This was confirmed during the speech of Chinese President Xi Jinping at the twentieth congress of the ruling Communist Party at the end of 2022, with the start of the third term in the era of Xi Jinping rule, where “Xi” declared that China “will remain firm in pursuing a foreign policy”. It is independent and based on peace, ensuring that it does not seek hegemony or expansion.
Hence, Chinese President Xi Jinping put this as a consistent and continuous approach within the framework of Chinese diplomacy to enhance its international standing, while stressing, “Xi” at the same time, that “China is increasingly investing in projecting a positive image of it to increase its global influence and win friends”. Here, the global development initiative that was recently launched by the Chinese president, as well as his initiative for global security, are the two most prominent examples of this new Chinese approach around the world, which always arouses Washington’s ire, and accordingly seeks to provoke and provoke Beijing with such irresponsible statements.
